Medaryn
Sponsorship & Transparency Policy
Medaryn is operated by a practicing emergency physician. Trust is the entire foundation of medical communication, and trust depends on transparency about who is paying for what. This page sets out, in plain language and as a binding commitment, how Medaryn handles sponsorships, branded content, affiliate relationships, and any other commercial arrangement that could affect the content you see.
The principle
The Publisher will never publish content that compromises clinical independence. Where a piece of content is commercially supported in any way, that support will be disclosed clearly, prominently, and on the same page as the content itself — not buried in a description or in fine print elsewhere.
This is not only a personal commitment. It is required by:
- The Code of Medical Deontology of the Belgian Order of Physicians, which prohibits misleading or unduly promotional communication by physicians and requires independence and intellectual honesty;
- Belgian advertising law, in particular Book VI of the Code of Economic Law, which prohibits misleading commercial practices;
- The advertising and disclosure rules of the platforms on which Medaryn publishes (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok).
What is disclosed, and how
The following forms of commercial support are always disclosed:
- Paid sponsorships: any payment received in exchange for creating or distributing content, in cash or in kind, is disclosed at the start of the relevant video, post, or article, using the words "Sponsored content", "Paid partnership", or "Gesponsorde inhoud" / "Contenu sponsorisé" as appropriate, together with the name of the sponsor.
- Affiliate links: where a link in Medaryn content earns the Publisher a commission, the content is marked as containing affiliate links and the relationship is briefly explained.
- Products received for review: products sent to the Publisher free of charge are disclosed even where no money changes hands.
- Branded content services for third parties: where the Publisher produces commercial content for a third party under NACEBEL activity 73110, that content is identified as commercial and is kept separate from Medaryn's editorial content.
What will not be accepted
The Publisher will not enter into the following arrangements:
- Sponsorship by manufacturers or distributors of prescription medication, where such sponsorship would in substance amount to promotion of a specific prescription medication to the public — which is prohibited under Belgian law;
- Sponsorship that requires editorial control over health-related content, or that conditions payment on the inclusion of specific therapeutic claims;
- Endorsement of products that make medical claims the Publisher has not personally verified, or that the Publisher considers misleading;
- Affiliate relationships with products that exploit the audience's anxieties about health (for example, fear-based supplement marketing or unverified "emergency kit" products).
Editorial independence
Sponsors do not see content before publication. Sponsors do not have approval rights over Medaryn's editorial content. Where a sponsor's product or service is mentioned in sponsored content, the Publisher retains the right to describe it honestly, including limitations or contraindications where clinically relevant.
Reader and viewer reporting
If you ever see Medaryn content that you believe is sponsored but not disclosed, or that you believe presents commercial content in a misleading way, please contact the Publisher at info@medaryn.com. The Publisher will review the concern promptly and, where appropriate, correct the content or remove it.
Donations and crowdfunding
If the Publisher accepts donations or crowdfunding contributions in the future, the same principle applies: the source and nature of support will be disclosed, and supporters will not have editorial influence.
Changes to this policy
This Sponsorship & Transparency Policy may be updated as Medaryn's activities evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. The Publisher commits to making this policy more, not less, transparent over time.
